Yosemite National Park eliminates summer reservations

In a major policy shift, Yosemite National Park will not require visitors to obtain a reservation for park entry during the busy summer season.

Park officials say reservations, which have been used in recent years to cap attendance and reduce overcrowding at one of the nation’s most popular parks, are not needed this year. The constraints and hassles they imposed on the millions who visit Yosemite’s famed waterfalls and canyons each year were simply too great, they say. Instead, they’ll do more to control congestion.
