Emergency support for transgender refugees in South Sudan. ( please consider reading through)

Hello everyone, I hope all is going on well. My name is CyaraKaira one of the transgender refugees in South Sudan. I really want to thank you everyone who has contributed to our journey through this horrible situation we. My sister was able to get medication and even gave an update on the fundraiser. she’s still healing and we are really thankful for the support that made that possible.

Currently we have an emergency that really needs your quick assistance. Our fellows who remained in Gorom refugee settlement are in danger. There is a video that has been circulating on the internet and there is a South Sudanese national that has been exposing queer refugees and asking fellows to find a solution of getting rid of us. In the video, he goes a head and target the transgender people and calling out people to react before South Sudan becomes what he called “ Transgender Capital City of EastAfrica” I asked my sister to help me upload the video on the fundraiser so that you can be able to watch it. She hasn’t done so because she’s busy maybe but I believe she is going to upload it any time soon.

We do have a shelter but it’s not enough to accommodate a big number. For safety reasons, we can’t live more than 4 people in each shelter because we are visible and it’s easy for people to identify us. I’m really overwhelmed because some of our people came in and we hosted them but it’s not allowed by the landlord.

Still there other shelters around but we need to cover the rent. As I had updated on the fundraiser, we were supposed to pay rent on the 21st of October. It’s now 10 days without clearing it and the landlord needs. We need to pay 950 USD for the two shelters that we share.

Also I was really requesting for your emergency support to help us get two more shelters here. I managed to talk to the landlord yesterday and he agreed to take three months that we are supposed to pay during entering a new shelter. He said we can pay for the single month if are to occupy the two other shelters. Which requires us to pay 800 USD for both. In total we need to raise 1750 USD. Please help us pay rent plus also be able to support our fellow queer refugees in danger.

Also to be honest we are also starving monthly food got done and things are really getting hard. We need to take action before the situation turns into something worse. Please help us cover this emergency and keep everyone safe.
