For this Wednesday Super Slop Night, 8PM EST, it’s spy action Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning (2025) and Japanese time-travel comedy Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes (2020)! (CWs inside)

For this Wednesday Super Slop Night, first up is Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning (2025), the eighth and supposedly final installment in the long-running spy action blockbuster series, once again starring Tom Cruise as agent Ethan Hunt. This one is a direct sequel to Dead Reckoning (2023), which we previously watched, and again featured Hunt’s battle against an omniscient AI seeking to conquer the world. Expect a lot of death-defying stunts and such. Director Christopher McQuarrie also returns, having helmed the previous few installments.

After that is Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes (2020), a Japanese sci-fi comedy about a guy who discovers that a TV in his café broadcasts events from two minutes into the future. Chaos ensues as he tries to capitalize on his foreknowledge of events and avert disaster, especially after acquiring some money that belongs to some gangsters. This is one of only two features to date of director Junta Yamaguchi, whose other, River (2023), also deals with time travel. I guess we’ll have to watch that one sometime, too. Great reviews for this, so let’s check it out.
